NFL MVP Odds for 2022: No Surprise Quarterbacks Dominate as Favorites to Win

Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers, the back-to-back MVP, is tied for the third-highest odds as he looks to make it a three-peat in 2022.

Historically the NFL Most Valuable Player is awarded to quarterbacks and 2022 looks to be no different. According to the sportsbooks, there are 12 quarterbacks with odds listed before the first non-QB. Each of the league’s last nine MVPs has been a quarterback with the lone outlier being running back Adrian Peterson, who was named MVP during his 2,000-yard season in 2012. In fact, Peterson is the only non-passer to win the award in the last 15 years and one of just 20 non-QBs to win the award since it was first created in 1957.

As for the odds for 2022 MVP, it’s most of the usual suspects including three in the top five who’ve already won. Patrick Mahomes (+800), Aaron Rodgers (+900), and Tom Brady (+900) already have the NFL MVP attached to their career bio but the favorite for this year would be a first-timer. With odds of +700, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has the best chances of being named the league’s Most Valuable Player according to the consensus odds on Vegas Insider. Allen led the Bills to a 13-3 record in 2021 and his squad is also the favorite to win this year’s Super Bowl.

Rodgers, the reigning and back-to-back MVP, could achieve something this year that only one other player in NFL history has accomplished, a three-peat as league MVP. Rodgers would tie his former teammate and fellow Packers legend, Brett Farve who was named MVP in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
