Michigan is listed as a 7.5 point favorite over TCU and the majority of public is betting on the Wolverines to cover the spread.

The New Year’s Eve party starts way before midnight thanks to the College Football semifinals. Michigan and TCU kick off at 4:00 (est) in the Fiesta Bowl, with the winner punching their ticket to the College Football National Championship.

The Wolverines finished their regular season with an undefeated record (13-0) which earned them the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs (12-1) suffered their first loss of the season in the Big 12 Championship game but still held onto the No. 3 seed and thus a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

Oddsmakers list Michigan as 7.5-point favorites and -333 on the moneyline. TCU is getting 7.5 points and is +240 on the moneyline, meaning if you bet $100 on TCU to win straight up, you’d get back $355 (the $100 wager and an additional $255 in winnings).

According to DraftKings, 61% of against the spread bets are on Michigan laying the 7.5 points while 39% is on TCU getting the points. But the handle for those bets is much more of an even split with Michigan -7.5 seeing 52% of the handle and TCU +7.5 seeing 48%.

Bettors placing wagers on the point total are gravitating to the over (58.5). So far, 62% of the over/under bets have come in on the over but just 46% of the total handle. This indicates that while the over has been the more popular bet in terms of wagers made, more money has actually been placed on the under despite being the less popular option. In fact, the under has received 54% of the money but just 38% of all bets.

As for betting on the moneyline, bettors are swarming to the Wolverines. A whopping 84% of bets and 70% of the handle is coming in on Michigan (-305) to win outright. That leaves just 16% of bettors who are banking on TCU to pull off the upset.
