Look: Chiefs Emerge As Betting Favorite To Land Star Wide Receiver

The Arizona Cardinals' season ended unceremoniously at 4-13, and with it came wholesale changes.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury and a number of secondary coaches were dismissed while GM Steve Keim resigned from his post.

Adding fuel to an already tumultuous situation, the team's prized wideout DeAndre Hopkins made an Instagram post implying his team in Arizona could be over. That came after a report earlier this week that the Cardinals are informing general manger candidates that they plan to trade the star wideout.

So, if the Cardinals embark on an extensive rebuild, which teams would cough up the necessary assets for Hopkins? One betting analyst thinks the Kansas City Chiefs hold a distinct advantage.

That's right, Arizona Cardinals reporter Bo Brack relayed odds listing the Chiefs with a +300 line. The Andy Reid-coached squad was neck-and-neck with the New England Patriots, who were speculated to have +325 odds of landing Hopkins.

These odds from oddsmaker Adam Thompson were offered with the disclaimer that they are "hypothetical and have been created by the Bookies.com team for entertainment purposes only."

So, sadly, football fans won't be able to place cash wagers on Hopkins' next destination.

The emergence of Kansas City as a Hopkins destination still bears monitoring, however. In the immediate aftermath of trade speculation, the teams most commonly mentioned as Hopkins suitors were the Chicago Bears and Patriots.

Hopkins would only add to the embarrassment of riches on Reid's depth chart. The team has receiving assets such as Travis Kelce, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Kadarius Toney on the books for at least another season. Pairing those talents with Hopkins and, of course, NFL MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes could make Kansas City unstoppable in 2023.
