Kicker Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 17

Brett Maher has a big leg and he's used that to lead his position in fantasy points.

I really want to put Justin Tucker atop my Week 17 fantasy kicker rankings. But I can't. As we saw last week, we are at the time of the year when wind, rain, sleet, and every other weather possibility can cause chaos in the kicking game.

So if I'm choosing a kicker for this week, I want one playing either inside a dome or in a warm weather place.

Which is one of the reasons why I have a very solid kicker like Greg Joseph outside of my top dozen this week. I like Joseph, but in Green Bay with some light snow expected and a 21-degree wind chill? No thanks.

Instead, I have a kicker like Younghoe Koo playing indoors inside my top 12 despite little faith in the Atlanta offense.

But the bottom line is Brett Maher is my top option this week. Maher is currently the No. 1 fantasy kicker, about half a point per game better than Tucker this year. Maher has nine made field goals from 50-plus yards. That's impressive. No reason to take him out of the top spot, even if he is playing outside this week, on the road against the Titans. The good news is that the temperatures for Nashville on Thursday night aren't expected to be unbearable nor is there any precipitation in the forecast.
