Fantasy Football: 4 Bye-Week Fill-Ins for Week 10

On a week where the QB position may be scarce, look to Jimmy Garoppolo.

It's the time of year when it’s hard to believe that we are already in double-digits for weeks of football. It is officially Week 10, which means the fantasy season is slowly nearing its end, but also that the bye weeks are in full force.

Positional Rankings: QB I RB I WR I TE I DST I K I Flex

Teams on bye: Baltimore, Cincinnati, New England, New York Jets

While Week 10 doesn’t have six teams off as Week 9 did, there are four teams sitting this week out. Between the byes and injuries, it may be tough to fill out your roster. Here are some guys that may help:

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers

This may be a tough week for quarterbacks. While the bye weeks didn’t affect many starting quarterbacks (in most leagues only two of the four are likely regularly started), some big-name quarterbacks are question marks heading into Week 10. Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, and Ryan Tannehill are all questionable and it seems likely that a couple of these guys will end up sitting. There is certainly concern about Allen's elbow, Murray is a legit question mark, Stafford is in concussion protocol, and Tannehill is dealing with a sprained ankle that caused him to miss last week's game. Garoppolo has had success with Christian McCaffrey in his offense, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns in Week 8 (prior to the Week 9 bye). If he’s available in your league, grab him as a possible QB replacement. Bonus: the 49ers play on Sunday night, so if your quarterback is active, you can either leave Garoppolo on your bench or drop him for someone else.

Foster Moreau, TE, Las Vegas Raiders

Darren Waller, who hasn’t played since Week 5, was just placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 10. While it seems that should have been done earlier, the reality is that Moreau is now the starting tight end for at least the next four weeks. Those that drafted Waller? Chalk it up to a lost season. As for Moreau, over the past three weeks, he’s had 19 targets, which he turned into 11 receptions for 101 scoreless yards. The Raiders face the Colts in Week 10, which should provide opportunities for Moreau.

Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Trusting Warren this week means that you are pretty desperate as a fantasy owner. However, all signs point to Warren taking over Najee Harris’ job in the Pittsburgh backfield. Harris has underperformed this season, and Warren has looked good in his limited opportunities. Just before the bye, he turned six carries into 50 yards. Granted, those six carries are the most he has been given so far this season, but that number should increase. Warren is definitely a risk, but it is a risk that could pay off in Week 10. Coming out of the bye is the perfect time for the Steelers to make that change.

Mack Hollins, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

With the news that Hunter Renfrow went on IR ahead of Week 10, the No. 2 wide receiver spot for the Raiders is now open. Granted, Renfrow has missed time, but his role as slot receiver is open and Hollins will be the one to fill it. In Week 3, the first week that Renfrow missed, Hollins had his best game of the season: eight receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown. To be fair, he followed that up with three receptions for 33 yards in Week 4, when Renfrow was out as well, but that is the state of the Raiders' offense. Hollins should have more of a role now that Renfrow is out for at least the next four weeks.
