2022 Fantasy Football ADP: Running Backs

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

Jonathan Taylor, last year's leading rushing champion and leading fantasy scorer among running backs, is the first one off the board in 2022 drafts.

When it comes to fantasy football, running backs reign supreme. Thus, it should come as no surprise to see the latest Average Draft Position (ADP) reports show seven running backs being selected in the first round (12-team league) of Points Per Reception (PPR) leagues. Led by last year’s top running back in Jonathan Taylor, the 2022 consensus No. 1 overall pick in all fantasy drafts, the “bell-cow” running backs of the NFL are flying off the board fast, quick, and in hurry, regardless of the scoring format. Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Derrick Henry, Najee Harris, Joe Mixon, and Dalvin Cook, along with the aforementioned Taylor, all have a first-round draft tag according to ADP reports in early August.

By the time Round 2 comes to an end, seven more backs are drafted including D’Andre Swift, Javonte Williams and Alvin Kamara. However, it’s important to stay on top of the latest draft trends and news out of the NFL because what may be true at the start of August might not be the case when your league is drafting. For example, it is rumored that a suspension is looming for Kamara. If the Saints rusher were to be out for four-to-six weeks, his ADP will drop drastically.

When it’s time for your fantasy draft, use ADP as a guide to know when players are being drafted. It’s one of the many tools at your disposal in order to come away with a successful fantasy team.
